Veterinarian
Dr. Summer Godfrey has been passionately providing expert veterinary care for a wide range of animals—including dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, pot-bellied pigs, reptiles, and equines—since 2005. She is proud to be part of the dedicated team at Amador Valley Veterinary Hospital.
Dr. Godfrey earned her degree from the prestigious U.C. Davis School of Veterinary Medicine in 2005. Her career began in Palm Springs, where she gained invaluable experience working with polo horses and small animals. During this time, she expanded her expertise by treating pot-bellied pigs and goats, further honing her ability to care for a diverse range of species.
A true animal lover at heart, Dr. Godfrey’s passion for veterinary care extends to exotic pets. She has a special interest in Veterinary Dentistry and continually stays updated through annual continuing education classes. In addition, Dr. Godfrey is a certified practitioner of Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM) since 2008 and is also certified in Canine Rehabilitation.
When she’s not caring for animals, Dr. Godfrey enjoys spending time with her husband, Steve, their children, Stevie Raye and Sterling, and their many dogs. Outside of work, Summer cherishes family time, whether it’s relaxing at home, visiting her in-laws’ ranch in Gold Country, or spending time with her parents in Palo Cedro.
Being part of an active family, they enjoy outdoor activities such as swimming, hiking, and playing with their dogs. Summer’s deep love and compassion for animals started early in life, growing up in a household where animal rescue and fostering were central values. This upbringing inspired her to pursue her dream of becoming a veterinarian.
Dr. Godfrey’s holiday seasons are lively and filled with joy—sometimes up to 15 dogs are in the household, making Christmas time a fun and rambunctious occasion!
